Hi, I’m Kate, an early intervention specialist supporting families of deaf babies and young children who are following a listening and spoken language pathway. Brining over 30 years of experience working with families of deaf babies and young children in Australia, the USA and the UK, I can provide intervention and support in conjunction with your services locally, or provide independent intervention when service aren't as accessible.

I founded this service to offer expert support and therapy at a time when many families feel overwhelmed by new information, decisions and emotions. Whether you are adjusting to a diagnosis, learning about hearing aids or cochlear implants, thinking about communication choices, or looking for ways to develop your child's listening and spoken language, I am here to support you.

My approach is holistic, family-centred and practical. I work with families and caregivers to build confidence, strengthen communication and make listening and language part of everyday life.

Collaboration with nurseries, preschools and early years professionals is critical, so that children are supported consistently across the people and places that matter most to them.

I work with families across the UK and internationally, offering remote and in-person support/therapy sessions depending on each family’s needs. My belief is simple: when families feel informed, supported and empowered, children are given the best possible foundation to flourish.

Working alongside, rather than instead of, the professionals already involved in your child’s care is core to the work; our aim is to work collaboratively, sharing information with the entire team around the child. Where appropriate, I can help you prepare for appointments, understand recommendations, ask useful questions and keep support consistent across home, nursery and clinical services.

Professional Bio

Initially training as a primary teacher and working in early years, Kate was always interested in working with deaf and hard-of-hearing children. This drove her to complete further post graduate and Master degrees in the field of deaf education and early intervention in listening and spoken language development. Kate was fortunate to be one of the first cohort of teachers in Melbourne to complete a specialist Masters at the University of Melbourne, overseen by Dr Christina Perrigoe (AVT), specialising in the development of listening and spoken language development in children aged 0 - 5 years of age. On completion of post graduate study Kate has worked extensively in early intervention programs in Australia, USA and the UK. Professional development and additional training is something central to the work and Kate continues to explore professional development to ensure current knowledge and skills in early intervention, deaf education and communication and language development is maintained.
